Google has announced a new learning programme on its video platform YouTube as an effort to support rich learning experience and a monetisation option for the content creators.

The search engine giant made the announcement at the Google For India 2022 event held at New Delhi yesterday. Titled ‘Courses’, the product involves a select group of creators who will be offering free or paid courses for the viewers. Creators including LearnoHub, Speak English With Aishwarya, and Telusko will develop courses across academic and vocational subjects in various Indian languages in the beta phase, Google said in its blog.

Google pointed out that the YouTube channels earning more than 1 lakh or more as their annual revenue had grown over 60 per cent year over year. It even shared the findings of Oxford Economics study which estimated that in 2021, YouTube’s creative ecosystem contributed over 10,000 crore to India’s GDP.

Stating that health condition videos on YouTube in India received over 30 billion views last year, Google said it supported healthcare organisations like Apollo Hospitals and Max Healthcare to create health content across over 60 health topics.

The technology behemoth said the efforts are being expanded across more healthcare institutions to create and amplify content across multiple Indian languages.

Google announced that it is supporting healthcare partners on YouTube with new Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning product called Aloud which transcribes, translates and dub original content on its own.

The company said it is beta testing the ability to have a single video with multiple audio tracks. The viewers can access healthcare content from medical experts in their preferred language. Google said it is continuing to invest in new features to help content creators develop more content and is expanding ways for them to interact with fans and make money.
