Twitter recently announced that it is all set to relaunch its subscription service — Twitter Blue on December 12. Now, the social media platform has hinted towards another major change.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that Twitter will increase its character limit from 280 to 4000 in the coming days. Musk confirmed this upcoming change while answering a query from a Twitter user.
“Elon, is it true that Twitter is set to increase the number of characters from 280 to 4000?”, asked a Twitter user. To this Musk replied, “Yes”. Musk did not reveal any other information about this upcoming change.

Twitter originally had a character limit of 140, the company then increased the limit to 280 in 2017.
Twitter Blue relaunching this week
Twitter has confirmed that it is relaunching its subscription service — Twitter Blue. The company will launch two subscription models for Twitter Blue. Users who subscribe to it from the web version of Twitter will have to pay $8 per month. On the other hand, iOS app users will have to pay $11 for a Twitter Blue subscription. The company has not yet revealed the cost of Twitter Blue for Android users.
Some of the features that Twitter said will be a part of the subscription service are the ability to edit tweets, a reader mode, and 1080p video uploads. And then there’s the blue checkmark.
As per Twitter’s website, the Blue tick service is “currently available on iOS only in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, with plans to expand”. Twitter Blue is reportedly not launching in India. Users will have to wait as there’s no word from Twitter on its launch in the country.
