Love them or hate them, NFTs are here to stay. And, according to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, they’re coming to Instagram. The company is set to roll out NFT support in the coming months, although Zuckerberg couldn’t confirm what Instagram’s move into the NFT world would look like.

Still, the move makes sense, at least at the “meta is involved in the metaverse and crypto” level. But, what will NFTs actually do on Instagram? How will they work?
Nfts are coming to instagram
Speaking at the SXSW event, Zuckerberg confirmed that Meta really wants to bring NFTs to Instagram.
However, in addition to confirming that NFTs are coming to Instagram and that there may be some integrated NFT mining functionality, Zuckerberg was particularly concerned about additional details, noting that Instagram was “a lot of technical things” before NFTs. There is a group that needs to be worked on” may actually happen.
Meta’s relationship with NFTs is still blossoming, and it is as yet unknown how NFTs will reflect in the metaverse’s vision of the metaverse. However, there is no doubt that NFTs will play some role. The company’s pivot towards Metaverse development encompasses other aspects of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, and crypto (and NFTs) are at the core of many Metaverse projects.
How will NFTs work on Instagram?
Instagram is not the first social media platform to be associated with NFTs. Twitter rolled out its NFT profile picture program, for better or worse, allowing users to adapt NFTs as their profile picture.
Will Instagram’s NFT integration follow the same path? Or, as Instagram’s parent company Meta moves forward with its Metaverse plans, will we see a different approach to NFTs on Instagram? Perhaps high-profile accounts will mint NFTs of unique posts, or you can make your top-rated posts memorable forever. Adding to the appeal of Instagram as a fashion outlet and Metaverse vision of Meta, you’ll try and buy a digital NFT item on Insta in the morning, then “wear it” in the Metaverse in the evening.
