How to Use Google Play’s Offers Tab for Deals and Discounts

Google is adding a new Offers tab to the Play Store to make it easier for users to find ongoing deals and offers from various apps and games.

Apps and games have evolved over the years and are now filled with IAPs. They offer various deals and discounts from time to time to attract new users and boost user spending. By bringing them directly to the Play Store, Google aims to provide a better user experience.

What is the Offers tab in Google Play Store? Where is it located?

As Google highlighted in its announcement on keywords, the Offers tab offers limited deals, in-app rewards, sales on games and their in-app items, delivery or rewards from shopping apps, and bundle offers, discounts on movies and books, apps will display the who are temporarily freed, and many more.

It will also highlight any apps or games offering extended trial periods for new customers.

The tab will show all running offers, regardless of whether you have the relevant app or game installed on your device. Previously, whenever an app or game offered lucrative deals on IAPs, developers could only promote it through their app listings or through their social media channels.

Google’s Offers tab will give them a wider reach and help in onboarding new users.

You can find the Offers tab right in the middle on the bottom navigation bar of the Google Play Store. Google is currently rolling out the tab in the United States, India and Indonesia, with the rollout set to expand to more countries later in 2022.

A better alternative to the “Offers & notifications” tab

Google already offers an “Offers & Notifications” tab on the Play Store; However, it is not easily accessible as it is buried under the Profile section. Additionally, it does not reflect the deals and offers for all apps and games on the Store.

The new Offers tab is a better replacement in this regard as it shows all the deals that would be relevant to you based on your app usage history.

Using the Google Play Store is very simple: You pop it open, search for the app you want to download, and install it on your device. That’s all about it.

But what happens if you move to another country? You’ll need access to the correct regional version of the Play Store for billing information. And Google Play offers different apps in different countries, as regions often allow or block access to certain apps.

Warnings about changing your Google Play Store country

Before you change your Google Play Store region, you should be aware of some important points.

First, you can’t use your old payment method with your new account. You will need to use the one from your new country. Keep in mind that you may lose access to some apps and other content if they aren’t available in your new country.

After you change Google Play to the new country, you can’t spend your Google Play balance from the old country. This includes any gift cards you’ve added but haven’t spent yet, as well as credits earned from Google Ideas Rewards. If you ever switch back to the old account, you’ll regain access to that balance.

You will also lose access to Google Play Points when you change countries, and your level will not transfer to the new region. If you subscribe to Google Play Pass, that subscription will transfer to your new country when the service becomes available. If Play Pass isn’t available in your new country, you won’t be able to install any other apps with Play Pass in your new region.

Importantly, you can only change your Play Store country once per year. If it’s been less than a year since your last change, you won’t see the option to change your country.

Because of all this, we recommend changing countries in the Play Store only if you’ve actually moved to the country, have a permanent payment method for the new country, and plan to stay for at least a year. While you can trick it by using a VPN, or want to access while visiting another country’s store, it’s not worth doing for short-term access to some new apps.
