Elon Musk may step down as head of Twitter, here’s why – Times of India

Ever since he took over as the head of Twitter, polls are something that Elon Musk has used for quite a few things. For instance, he asked users via a poll whether former US president Donald Trump should be unbanned or not. He did the same for a few other suspended accounts. Musk has rather interestingly put a Twitter poll asking users about his ‘future’ at the company.
“Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” is what Musk tweeted.

Who could replace Musk?

To be fair to Musk he has stuck to his guns when it has come to poll results. So if people do end up ‘voting’ him out, who could actually replace him. Musk did reply to certain tweets hinting that there’s really no successor he has in mind. “No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor,” he said in a tweet.
Musk also indicated that the problem won’t be finding a CEO but one who can actually do a good job. “The question is not finding a CEO, the question is finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive,” he said in another tweet.
“As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it,” he tweeted.
The Tesla ‘effect’
One of the reasons that are being speculated about Musk’s proposal to step down is the impact on his other companies. One of Tesla’s biggest individual investors, KoGuan Leo earlier this week tweeted that “Tesla has no working CEO” and that Musk has “abandoned Tesla.” He followed up with another tweet where he suggested that it would be better if Musk finds a CEO for Twitter. Multiple reports have revealed that Tesla’s stock hasn’t been doing too well. It was reported that compared to last year, Tesla’s stock price was down to 50%, hitting a 52-week low. As a result, Musk has also lost the title of the world’s richest man and is now number two on the list.
