UBS appoints three executives to lead Americas equity capital markets By Reuters

(Reuters) – UBS has appointed three banking experts to lead its U.S. Equity Capital Markets (ECM) division, as the global asset manager seeks to expand other divisions after last year’s loss-making takeover of Credit Suisse.

The bank was named Gregor Feige and Brad Miller who are the heads of America ECM and Santiago Gilfond the vice chairman of the division, according to a memo seen by Reuters.

Feige, who will also lead technology, media and telecom (TMT), will begin his role in July 2024. He previously worked at Citigroup and JPMorgan in his more than 20-year career.

Miller will take on this new role in addition to continuing to serve as head of buyers and sellers.

Gilfond joins the franchise after leading American ECM at Credit Suisse for more than 30 years. He will report to global head of ECM Tommy Rueger and take on his new role while still head of global business.

UBS’s takeover of Credit Suisse last March was the first merger of two major global banks. Although the Swiss bank has managed to avoid any fraud, it showed a strong next phase to take on its competitors after the difficult results of the fourth quarter.

The new appointments will help UBS build a strong ECM franchise while growing their technology division, the memo said.
