Amazon Reportedly Ditches ‘Just Walk Out’ Checkouts at Its Grocery Stores


Amazon says it’s shutting down its services small grocery stores and the art of “Just Walk Out”, according to The Information Tuesday. The grocery company’s senior vice president says he’s leaving Just Walk Out, which relies on cameras and sensors to track people leaving stores.

Amazon is trying to get into the retail space to grow into another billion dollar market. Even with Whole Foods, the e-commerce giant still doesn’t compete with the likes of Walmart, Costco, and Kroger. Amazon’s push away from expensive tests like Just Walk Out could be a sign that the company is looking to expand its presence as an online store.
