Dion shared that he was was diagnosed with an “extremely rare” progressive neurological disease the so-called stiff-person syndrome, certainly the first time many people have heard of it.

“As you know, I’ve always been an open book,” he said in an Instagram video. “I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but I’m ready now. I’ve been dealing with my health problems for a long time, and it’s been very difficult to deal with these problems and talk about everything I’m going through. I’ve been through it.”

He suffers from neurological problems that affect “every aspect” of his daily life, Dion explained, making it difficult to walk at times and, sadly, making it impossible for him to return to his planned destination.

“I’m working hard with my physical therapist every day to get my strength back and my ability to perform again,” Dion said. “But I have to admit, it’s been difficult.”

According to National Institutes of Healthsymptoms include muscle stiffness in the body, arms, and legs, and sensitivity to noise, touch, and stress, all of which can trigger muscle spasms.
