PARIS (AP) – The French government extended its national security alert until Sunday after the death attack on a Russian concert hall and what the Islamic government claims to be responsible for.

Prime Minister of France Gabriel Attal announced the decision in the X documents, saying that the authorities are “considering what the Islamic State government has said is the responsibility of (Moscow) and the threats that are plaguing our country.”

The announcement came after President t Emmanuel Macron held an emergency meeting due to Friday’s attacks in the Moscow region that killed more than 130 people. This was reported by a group affiliated with the Islamic State group.

France has been repeatedly hit by deadly threats from the Islamic State, including the Bataclan Theater massacre in 2015 where gunmen opened fire on concert goers and held hostages for hours. France’s military has also fought Islamist militants in the Middle East and Africa.

France was already very alert security ahead of The Paris Olympics and Paralympics this year, which is expected to attract millions of tourists to the country. The security risks are very high for a special opening ceremony July 26, which will include boats sailing along the banks of the Seine River and crowds of people watching from the banks.
