A British man who went missing on a cruise ship in Europe texted his wife moments before he fell overboard, it has been reported.

Liam Jones, 23, from Scotland, was on a Northern European cruise with his family aboard the MSC Euribia when it collapsed on March 16. MSC Cruises he said Metro.

According to Jones’ wife, Sophia Mcphee, 20, the student had just texted her saying she was sick because of his absence.

“He’s gone. I’ll never see him again,” McPhee said Record Daily. “I’m very upset. I have a lot of questions, and I can’t find answers about what happened.”

McPhee said that Jones’ sister – who called him to report the news of her husband’s disappearance – told him that security camera footage showed Jones falling, however, McPhee said that there has been no update on the investigation since then.

“[Jones’ sister] said there had been an accident, and Liam “didn’t come back,” Mcphee told reporters Record Daily. “Then he said he saw the CCTV and he went up.”

Mcphee had last seen her husband on March 14, when she was leaving her home in Dundee, Scotland, to meet her family in Glasgow before boarding a ferry to Southampton the next day, she said. The couple went on a cruise to celebrate Jones’ mother’s birthday.

“I have been trying to contact MSC since Monday, but it has given me a headache,” Mcphee told reporters. Record Daily. “He’s not coming back to me.”

The MSC Euribia it was supposed to sail from Southampton to Amsterdam in a few days, with stops in Denmark, Norway and Germany, according to the ship’s itinerary. The international cruise line said the ship was bound for Germany at the time Jones went down.

“A passenger on board the MSC Euribia boarded on March 16 while the ship was en route to Hamburg. This has been reported to the authorities,” an MSC Cruises spokesperson said. Telegraph.

“Police at Southampton boarded the train today and are investigating on behalf of the coroner,” the statement continued. “We are deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will refrain from revealing any additional information.”

The incident prompted a response from Hampshire Constabulary, and a spokesman confirmed that detectives had begun looking into Jones’ case.

“Officers boarded the train today following reports that a man had boarded,” a Constabulary spokesman said. Telegraph. “The man’s family is aware, and the police are investigating this on behalf of the coroner.”
