Veteran director Rakesh Kumar who is known for movies like Yaarana, Mr Natwarlal and Do Aur Do Paanch, passed away on November 10. He was battling cancer for a long time.
In honor of the late director, a prayer meeting was held over the weekend. Present for the sombre occasion were his family, close friends and members of the film industry.
Among those who arrived to pay respects were Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. Amitabh Bachchan, who could not attend the meeting, shared a heartfelt note on his blog. It read, No, I shall hesitate to go to his funeral… for I shall not be able to bear the sight of an inert Rakesh! You made many of us prominent with your innovative ideas for story and film, Rakesh, and you shall always be remembered.”
