Na. 25 Texas lost 32-24 to No. 12 Oklahoma State Saturday – losses intensified considering the Longhorns received a 17-3 lead in the middle of the second quarter. Later, however, the Cowboys outscored the Longhorns 29-7. This includes a 16-0 fourth-round finish which was part of four unanswered quarterfinals.

The Texas defeat follows a disappointing match against Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown. There, the Longhorns jumped for a 14-0 lead two minutes before the growth of the game leading to 28-7 at the end of the first quarter. But the Recenters, encouraged by Caleb Williams’ comeback, ended up making the biggest comeback in the history of the tournament heading to a 55-48 victory, with a final second defeat.

Following Texas’s defeat to Oklahoma State, the Longhorns fell 4-3 in that season. This not only removes them from the top 25, but also removes them from the Big 12 competitions.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game on Saturday that his team had “lost our interest” and that the forward should be violent, even under heavy pressure.

“We can’t play to hold on, and I think we do this,” Sarkisian said.

With that in mind, Sporting News describes how Texas shot to the fore in the following weeks, removing itself from the top 25, the College Football Playoff tournament and the 12th major competition:

Oklahoma

The events in which Texas was defeated by Oklahoma in the 2021 Red River Showdown are well documented. Since recently quarterback Spencer Rattler had made two tackles against the Longhorns, both of which led to Texas relegation.

Following a second rest of the touchdowns – which gave the Longhorns a 35-17 lead – Williams took part in the quarterback’s lead, leading them recently to a field goal to finish halfway. Before taking the starting line-up, they re-launched their return and poured in 66-fourth and 1-yard touchdowns to make it 28-14.

In the second half, Texas lost 35-10 to the Recentists. Oklahoma finally tied the game 41-41 with 7:25 remaining in the game after cutting off 52 big fingers, Marvin Mims. Rattler came back to test the conversion of the two points. The frustration with receiver Xavier Worthy on the game that followed immediately led to Oklahoma advancing with Kennedy Brooks. Texas reached the semi-finals at the end of 48-48, but gave Brooks a 33-yards finish at the end of 55-48.

Oklahoma State

Texas dominated early on against the Cowboys, forcing three punches and conceding at six points for Oklahoma State. But Casey Thompson missed a chance to bounce back 75 yards for Jason Taylor II to hit the crossbar with a goal that was halfway through. This allowed Gundy’s team to return to game 17-10:

Texas came out on top three times in another car while Oklahoma State scored a field goal to finish in half. It was all down from there to Texas, which was released 19-3 in the second half of the attempt. Bijan Robinson took the Longhorns to the final, taking them from 38 yards to give his team 24-13. Texas finished the game with a trip in and out, a downward spiral and a close.

Similarly, Oklahoma State scored on the field for its third and a half trip. Following this, the Cowboys had three straight drivers to lead: Brennan Presley 7-yard pass from Spencer Sanders, a Tanner Brown 29-yard goal and Sanders 10-yard run to finish his last game 32-24 Chogoli.

The Texas future was sealed following closure by Thompson with 1:57 left to do. It burned twice in the Cowboys’ final whistle, but eight runs on Wednesday and 6th allowed them to bring out the season.
